Our Precision® Restoration Coatings Remover can help you remove multiple layers of coatings on interior and exterior surfaces. As it's an alkaline paste, you'll need to neutralise it before you apply primer or recoating. If you don't, it can cause discolouration in moist and wet conditions. We've put together this guide to help you through the process.
Before you neutralise, make sure to rinse your stripped surface thoroughly with water and scrub to remove any residue.
A film of soapy alkalinity will still be there even though your surface looks clean. You'll need to remove this as it can interfere with your future paint coatings.
Allow the surface to dry overnight.
Dissolve the 100g package in 500ml of warm water and stir for 10-15 seconds until it completely dissolves.
Immediately apply the neutraliser solution with a plastic garden sprayer, working from the bottom up.
Make sure you soak your surface completely.
Scrub your surface with a nylon brush or scouring pad while it's still wet.
Wait 15-30 minutes and rinse your surface with clean water.
Check the pH level of your surface until it reads between 5-8 on the pH indicator strips.
You might need to repeat the neutralising process again, with some timber surfaces needing 2-3 applications.
Once your surface is at the correct pH, continue with priming.
