Application Tools
Do not apply product if temperature is below 10C or is likely to fall below 10C during the drying period. Moisture content of timber should be close to equilibrium moisture content, usually 10-15%, but not exceeding 15%, for satisfactory application.
For interior use only.
All timber surfaces should be thoroughly clean, dry and free from wax, oil, grease and other contaminants. Wash with mineral turpentine if needed to remove wax and grease, allow to dry, and lightly sand dressed surfaces with "00" paper or finer, always in direction of the grain. For interior surfaces, fill nail holes with CABOT'S Wood Tone Putty - do not use a linseed oil putty.
Brush, short-nap roller or pad
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use with a broad flat stirrer, to maintain a uniform colour and solution.
Apply full even coat liberally to timber. Allow approx 10 minutes to penetrate and "set".
Wipe off excess with a soft lint free cloth, and finish wiping in direction of grain.
For greater lustre apply a second coat of Danish Oil after allowing 8 hours drying. Sand very lightly between coats. Finish can be buffed using a pad or folded cloth.
Alternatively, lightly sand while wet using 5/600 grit wet and dry paper, then buff.
