Do not apply if temperature is under 10°C, or when temperature of surface may fall below 10°C during the drying period, otherwise film formation will not be complete and a fall-off in properties will result. For all walls and when product is used in bathrooms and other wet areas DULUX PROFESSIONAL Ultra 5 Surfacer, Prep & Finish must be topcoated with the appropriate DULUX finish coat.
Where accurate colour reproduction is required DULUX PROFESSIONAL Ultra 5 Surfacer, Prep & Finish must be top-coated with the appropriate DULUX finish coat.
When coating paper-faced wallboard that has aged and yellowed DULUX recommends that the surface be sealed with DULUX Prepcoat Sealer Binder.
For fibrous plaster surfaces DULUX recommends that the surface be sealed with DULUX Prepcoat Sealer Binder. As with all higher build water borne coatings, best drying is obtained when there is a reasonable airflow over the coated surface.
All surfaces must be thoroughly clean and free of all loose dirt, grease, mould, mildew and wax, surface chalk and loose or flaking paint, efflorescence and loose surface plaster. Sand smooth and dust down. Prepare surface in accordance with the requirements of the chosen system.
Conventional or airless spray.
Airless Spray: Should be applied using a "cross-hatch" method to produce a film build of 150 to 200 microns. This involves holding the gun approximately 600mm from the wall and spraying an even coat horizontally across the substrate with a 50% overlap. Spraying on the next coat vertically completes application.
An airless sprayer capable of applying 3.0 litres per minute at the pressure of 3300psi through a 21 to 27 thou tip with a 3/8 inch hose fitting should be used. Similar to the Graco 695 model. A 60 mesh in-line filter can be used. DO NOT USE FINE PAINT FILTERS.
Sanding: Sand to a smooth surface free of any sign of peel or texture with 180 to 220 grit sandpaper.
Stir contents thoroughly before and during use. Apply direct from the can. May be applied to dampened surfaces.
